Ian McQuade, Portland Port, is named interim Chair as Kate O’Hara steps down from Port of Tyne.

Kate O’Hara stepped down as chair of Cruise Britain following her departure from Port of Tyne where she has been commercial director for the past three years.

O’Hara had chaired Cruise Britain since January 2022.

Ian McQuade, general manager (commercial) at Portland Port UK, who has over 25 years’ experience in the marine and aviation sectors, has agreed to be interim chair.

O’Hara was previously chair of Cruise Britain, a board member of Visit Greenwich and a member of the Council of Management of Cruise Europe and has a wealth of experience in the travel industry having held senior leadership positions at Teesside Airport, Leeds Bradford Airport, the Port of Dover and CEO of London City Cruise Port.

She is actively pursuiting a new position and hopes to stay in the cruise sector.

Cruise Britain has 42 members including 26 ports and port groups covering 40 ports across the UK. Following an excellent transitional year in 2022, UK ports are looking forward to a record year in 2023.
