Guernsey welcomes MSC’s Preziosa on her inaugural visit

Representatives from Guernsey Harbours and CruiseGuernsey boarded MSC ‘sPreziosa during the ship’s inaugural call in to St Peter Port on 1 May 2019.

An informal plaque exchange ceremony took place on board with Captain Stefano Aillo, Government representatives, CruiseGuernsey, Guernsey Harbours, St Peter Port Constable and the local port agent.

Deputy Dawn Tindall, , Guernsey Government official responsible for Tourism and business development for Guernsey’s cruise industry said; ‘We are always delighted to welcome new ships in to Guernsey waters, and we are particularly pleased to that MSC Preziosa has included St Peter Port in her itinerary this year’.

The ship set sail from Southampton on 30 April with around 4,345 passengers and crew on a 15 night cruise with scheduled ports of call in Lisbon, Malaga and Amsterdam.

MSC Preziosa is a ship owned and operated by MSC Cruises. She entered service in March 2013. The fourth ship in her class, she is an enhanced version of her first two class member ships, MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia and identical to the previous MSC Divina.

The Guernsey delegation were given a brief tour of the ship and its facilities. MSC Preziosa is a well-equipped ship; filled with great dining venues, lounge bars and entertainment facilities. The ship includes spectacular features such as a real stone piazza, sweeping Swarovski crystal staircases and a magical ‘infinity’ pool.
