Guernsey to receive 95 cruise calls this season

17 April 2023

Guernsey will receive 95 cruise calls this season bringing a potential 147,260 passengers to the island, an increase on 2022 figures.

The season got underway on April 15 with the arrival of Conti Group’s Hamburg and finishes on October 22 with MSC Cruises’ MSC Euribia.

Silversea is due to call at the port on five occasions in 2023, as the destination pursues a strategy of attracting more luxury cruise ships.

12 cruise ships will call at Guernsey for the first time ever.

The Islands of Guernsey have just run a fam trip showcasing the destination, available shore excursions and disembarkation process to luxury cruise brands, joined by five representatives from Saga Cruises, Explora Journeys, Silversea, Seadream Yacht Club and Ponant.

Experiences included the historic German Underground Hospital, which bears witness to Guernsey’s years under German occupation during World War Two, sampling Guernsey’s sustainable Rocquette Cider and witnessing dramatic coastal scenery with a walk along the South Coast cliffs.

Accompanied by Amanda Johns, cruise business development consultant for CruiseGuernsey, the trip also provided an opportunity for the destination to share forthcoming infrastructure developments and show what passengers encounter on arrival: free Wi-Fi, a dedicated arrivals area and welcome team at Albert Pier.
