Azamara cruise guests experienced Dover’s world class heritage at its finest on 2nd July, as Dover Castle was transformed into a vibrant medieval festival for the second AzAmazing event to be hosted there. Over 500 guests interacted with knights and jesters, who brought the Castle’s incredible 900-year history to life. They also enjoyed exclusive access to the grounds and stunning views across to their Azamara Journey ship, before departing at 10pm.
Peter Wright, Head of Cruise at the Port of Dover said: “Dover’s famous history, landmarks and views make it a truly special cruise destination as a homeport or transit call, as Azamara Cruises experienced for the second time this year. The Port’s cruise business continues to grow strongly and is an important part of the local visitor economy, connecting hundreds of guests from across the world with the wonderful attractions on our doorstep during each cruise call.
“Thank you to Azamara Cruises, English Heritage, the team at Dover Castle, and our operations team for ensuring that guests enjoyed another once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Becky Smith, Manager of Dover Castle added: “The team at the Castle, together with English Heritage, were extremely proud to host our second AzAmazing event with Azamara Cruises, which once again showcased Dover Castle as an extraordinary heritage attraction for cruising.”
On the same day, the Port also welcomed Silversea Silver Spirit for her inaugural call. Like Azamara Journey, she was visiting as a transit call for the day so guests also enjoyed Dover Castle, the White Cliffs and Deal town, before departing at 6pm.
Silver Spirit marks the third of six inaugural calls for the Port’s 2026 season, following Sapphire Princess and TUI’s Mein Schiff 2. MS Europa 2 follows on 16th of July, then Scenic Eclipse and Viking Mera in September.
