Greetings to all members

A sincere ‘hello and how are you’ to all Cruise Britain members, their families and colleagues.

Times are extremely challenging on every front at the moment and thoughts are with all those affected especially if within our own circles of family, friends or colleagues.

The cruise industry has been on the news many times recently and so our thoughts must also go to passengers, crew and operational teams working tirelessly in support. Cruise Britain remains in touch with industry colleagues including Visit Britain, CLIA UK & Ireland, Chamber of Shipping, British Ports Association and fellow associations such as Cruise Europe. As an organisation, we’ll endeavour to keep you updated although some news and resources may be duplicated from other sources.

Summer meeting to be replaced by virtual discussion groups

Our Summer meeting scheduled for 24 June in Portsmouth is postponed until 2021.

New for this year will be a series of opportunities to get-together in the virtual world.
Beginning shortly, members will be invited to participate in small-group online video meetings that will bring together a cross-section of members to discuss current best practice, challenges and how to prepare for the return of the cruise industry. It is hoped that a cruise line colleague will be able to join each session to discuss the wider industry view.

Winter event 2020 now 25 November

Our now traditional annual industry event with cruise lines from across the UK and Europe will take place on 25th November. This is a change from the previously announced date of 2nd December; the International Cruise Summit (Madrid) is scheduled to take place in the first week in December and so the Steering Group have made the decision to bring our event forward by a week.

As a note for diaries, it is likely that the event will start in the morning to allow a members’ meeting to take place prior to the afternoon agenda.

Seatrade Cruise Global and Seatrade Med

As many of you know, Seatrade Cruise Global 2020 will not now go ahead but the industry looks forward to reconvening in Miami in 2021. Floor space and stands are being rolled forward and exhibitors being communicated with separately.

Meanwhile, Seatrade Med (Malaga 16 -17 Sept) is still very much in place and Cruise Britain has stand space on hold – please get in touch if you require information about exhibiting options.

Take a moment to update your web page

Not something that there is always time for but now… if you would like to refresh your page on the Cruise Britain website so that it’s totally up-to-date for when the industry can resume business, then take a moment to feed through your changes.

More on this soon.
